Engagement Coincidence?

March 29th 2008 pretty much seemed like a normal day to Andrea and me. I started my day at the gym with Zach. Then we showered, got Starbucks, and headed to Carmel for a weekend he planned at the Tickle Pink Inn in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Meanwhile, Ilya was planning a hike for Andrea and their puppy Lola. Nice ordinary weekends.

Zach and I arrived early afternoon at the B&B, greeted by gorgeous panoramic views of the Pacific and champagne and chocolates. After just a short time, Zach proposed to me! What a wonderful surprise! Of course we were giddy with joy and made the appropriate calls to our families, holding off on our friends – even our best friends -- until the next day. Just a few hours later, I got a call from Andrea. I didn’t answer then, but had to ask Zach if Andrea new the big news and was calling to see how excited I was. He assured me he didn’t tell her in advance, but I thought she sounded awfully happy on the phone.

The night continued and it wasn’t until Zach and I were soaking in the outside hot tub with waves crashing that Andrea called yet again. Well of course I had to answer. She immediately told me that her “left hand looked really sparkly.” I was so confused that I said “no, mine is” convinced she knew that I was engaged. She clarified that she was engaged! I was so happy and so stunned and let out “So am I!” We each shared our stories and come to find out, just a couple hours after Zach popped the question, Ilya had asked Andrea while at the summit of their hike with Lola as their witness.

Together from engagements through dress shopping through the day of our wedding -- if that's not a sign, I don't know what is!
